How to choose a bike for a kid?

Kids’ bikes are sized differently from adult bikes. Instead of frame height or length, children’s bikes are measured by wheel size. The chart below provides a general guide to help you find the right fit for your child. Keep in mind that taller children may be able to move up to a larger wheel size, but bigger bikes often introduce new features—such as multiple gears and hand brakes instead of coaster brakes—that may take some getting used to. Use sizing charts as a starting point, not a final answer. Once your child reaches about 4’10” (147 cm), they’re usually ready for an adult bike with 26-inch, 27.5-inch, 29-inch, or 700c wheels.
